Getting Involved at Woodend Barn

WAA is a largely voluntary organisation with just five part-time staff. We are always looking for people who would like to be involved in our work in any way. Please see Recruitment for current salaried and volunteer vacancies.

There are many ways to get involved and become a Friend of WAA, help with our programming via the Arts Committee; help with marketing and publicising our events; help run WAA via the Management Committee; help with particular events by being front-of-house or helping with the car park or bar; provide technical help with the sound and lighting.

Please contact the WAA office if you are interested in helping us in any way. We offer appropriate training and support to all volunteers.

Main opportunities for volunteers are outlined below.

WAA Management Committee is responsible for all of the affairs of WAA and comprises seven to fifteen volunteers. All members and officers (Convenor/Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer and Secretary) are elected each year, generally in March, at the annual general meeting of the association. The ManCom meets approximately five times a year.

WAA Arts Committee comprises seven to fifteen volunteers and meets about every two months. Members generally have some expertise, knowledge and/or enthusiasm for a particular art form.

Volunteers also help with organising and running each event and others assist the Barn office. Volunteering roles include:
