The Lang Byre Gallery visual arts group
was founded in 2002 by a committed group of volunteers who wanted to maximize the potential of the gallery space at Woodend Barn Arts Centre. Out of this group came the aim of promoting exhibitions of work by artists, craftworkers and designers, providing a visual arts focus for the local community and encouraging access to and participation in the visual arts amongst all ages and abilities.
Alongside the exhibitions, informal, friendly and fun programmes of art workshops are run which give the opportunity for aspiring artists to experiment in different techniques and styles, such as line drawing, mixed media, collage, watercolours and acrylics, amongst others. The Lang Byre also run workshops for local schools and day centres.
All income generated from fund raising, workshops & exhibition sales goes back into improving and developing the programme of visual arts events.
